The meaning of the word "Yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root "Yuj" which means "to join" or "to yoke". As when sewing two pieces of fabric together with thread, the mind/consciousness and the body become one, through the breath. When we practice Yoga, we quiet the chatter and busyness of our lives to listen, to become united with Universal Consciousness. Through asanas, or poses, breathwork, and meditation, we release physical, mental, and emotional stress, trauma, and pain to bring harmony to our mind and bodies.
